The Macomb Music Theatre is a live mixed-use entertainment, live performance and concert venue located in downtown Mt. Clemens, Michigan. The theater hosts a variety of local and national concert, comedy, corporate, nightclub and entertainment events.
The 17,500 sq. ft. venue consists of a grand theater with a general admission capacity of 2,500 on three levels, with cabaret-style terraced seating and a dance floor that both convert to theater-style seating. An adjacent lounge bar called The Rock Room serves as a separate VIP area and hosts special events for up to 150 persons, with or without the use of the theater.
The Macomb Music Theatre was designed by internationally acclaimed theater architect, C. Howard Crane, who also designed New York’s Radio City Music Hall, and Detroit’s Orchestra Hall and Fox Theatre. Opened in 1921 as a grand movie palace and vaudeville live performance venue, the theater was renown for its stunning acoustics and ornate Beaux Arts architecture. One of the first grand movie palaces in the metropolitan Detroit area, the theater is the largest venue of its type in Macomb County. It was known as the Macomb Theatre until 1987, when it went through a series of name, use and ownership changes. Under new ownership in 2012, it was renamed the Macomb Music Theatre.
Recent notable live events at the theater include the taping of VH1’s “Kid Rock Christmas”, featuring Kid Rock and Carmen Electra, and the Sports Illustrated Super Bowl XL Party in 2006. Other artist performances at the venue include, among others, Uncle Kracker, Godsmack, Alice in Chains, Candlebox, Too Short, Sponge, Vince Neil, Juvenile, Three 6 Mafia, DMX, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, L.A. Guns, Great White, Mike Posner, Boys Like Girls, Sean Kingston, Down, Blue October, Better Than Ezra, Queensryche, Powerman 5000, Ice Cube, Extreme, Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Ministry, Ace Frehley, Puddle of Mudd, The Cult, Styx, Velvet Revolver, The Psychedelic Furs, The Damned, Motörhead, Bush, Earl Klugh, Extreme, Blue October Band, Pearl Jam and Collective Soul.
